The Kinmount Agricultural Society is excited to announce changes to this year’s Kinmount Fair, with a special focus on Saturday, which will be celebrated as Warriors’ Day. Instead of the traditional Warriors’ Day Parade, this year’s event will honour veterans and Royal Canadian Legion members with a series of special activities and presentations on the Fairgrounds.
In a heartfelt tribute to the dedication and service of Canada’s military personnel, the Agricultural Society is granting free admission on Saturday to all veterans and Royal Canadian Legion members who present their official identification at the gate. Additionally, Cadet Members who arrive in uniform will also enjoy complimentary entry.
Veterans, Cadets and Legion Members are encouraged to participate as representatives of their respective organizations and we would ask that they contact Ira Peters, RCL Branch 441 President at (705) 886-0404 to register their participation and be formally included in the special presentation.
The highlight of the day will be the Warriors’ Day Legion of Honour Celebration from 12-1 at the Grandstand. This solemn and celebratory event will feature an impressive display of pipes and drums, creating a stirring atmosphere of respect and admiration. The presentation will culminate in a mass color party and parade of veterans, allowing attendees to pay their respects and show their gratitude to those who have served.
“We wanted to do something extra special this year to honor our veterans and active service members,” said Sylvin Cloutier, President of the Kinmount Agricultural Society. “We have partnered with our local Canadian Legion, Branch 441 to create a day in honour of service. By offering free admission and organizing the Warriors’ Day Legion of Honour Celebration, we hope to express our deep appreciation for their sacrifices and service.”
The Kinmount Fair, a cherished annual tradition, promises a weekend filled with fun, community spirit, and heartfelt tributes. Alongside the Warriors’ Day events, fairgoers can look forward to a variety of activities, including agricultural displays, live entertainment, and a wide range of family-friendly attractions.
The Kinmount Agricultural Society invites everyone to join in the celebrations and honour the heroes of the community. The fair will run from August 30 to September 1, with Warriors’ Day set for Saturday, August 31.
